Our story

Gild & Grain is a South African leather studio. Every piece is designed and made in-house, in our Cape Town studio, using leather chosen to age well rather than wear out.

We make journals, covers, desk pieces and gifts for people who keep things. Leather is our material of choice because it does the opposite of most things you buy: with use it gets better, developing a patina that belongs to you alone.
